In the land of India, a soul did rise,
With wisdom and courage, he reached the skies.
Born in Gujarat, a humble birth,
But destined to change the face of the earth.
Gandhi, the name that echoed loud,
A beacon of hope in a thunderous cloud.
Lawyer by trade, he set sail for a quest,
In South Africa, he put justice to the test.
Nonviolent resistance, his weapon of choice,
He spoke for the voiceless, gave them a voice.
In the struggle for rights, he took a lead,
For civil rights and freedom, he planted the seed.
Back in India, he returned with a dream,
To end discrimination, a powerful theme.
He led the Congress, a force so grand,
Working for swaraj, across the land.
Simple in attire, a dhoti and shawl,
With truth and love, he broke every wall.
Salt March and Quit India, his rallying cry,
He stood up to the British, never shy.
Imprisoned and fasting, he bore the pain,
For justice and freedom, he’d always reign.
In the darkest hour, when violence did mar,
He preached peace and love, near and far.
Partition’s pain, he tried to mend,
Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, he’d defend.
With unity and love, he’d strive,
To keep the dream of India alive.
But darkness fell on a fateful day,
A bullet took his life away.
Yet his legacy lives on, forever bright,
A symbol of peace, a guiding light.
Gandhi Jayanti, we remember the date,
To honor the man, so great.
The Father of the Nation, Bapu so dear,
His message of nonviolence, we hold near.
